Louis-Eugène Crouzet was a most talented goldsmith of the 19th century. He was a creative innovator and craftsman.

Henri Vever documented beautifully in his famous book about French jewelry of the 19th century, the importance of the Crouzet family, father and son jewelers. They worked in their own right and for other jewelry houses, as for example Boucheron.

The design movement of archaeological revival in the 19th century, be Byzantine, Etruscan, Egyptian or Renaissance, inspired Crouzet for many of his exquisite jewelry pieces.
