The workshop was founded in 1780 by Marie-Étienne Nitot. He soon became one of the favorites of the French royal family and counted Marie Antoinette and Empress Joséphine among his customers. Later, Napoleon made the company Chaumet purveyor to the imperial court and had his crown made by them, among other commissions.

In 1894, the company opened a branch in London, where Queen Victoria and her family quickly became customers. In the Roaring Twenties, Chaumet’s Art Deco jewelry was legendary.

The Maison’s Haute Joaillerie savoir-faire has been passed down to generations of jewelers for almost 240 years. For five centuries, Paris has been known for the quality and creativity of its jewelry specialists. Marie-Étienne Nitot distinguished himself in this tradition at the end of the 18th century. Exceptional tiaras, jewels and watches, made in the heart of Place Vendôme express this virtuosity, embodying elegance with grace and character.

During the Second World War, the company had to close, but was able to be revived afterwards. Today, Chaumet belongs to the luxury goods group LVMH, has regained its place in the world of the rich and beautiful and convinces as ever with fascinating jewelry creations and luxury watches of the highest quality.
